Brewed protein fiber is a structural protein fiber produced through a microbial fermentation process using plant-derived biomass such as sugarcane and corn-derived sugars as the main raw material, and has been widely used as a raw material for clothing.


Shiseido worked with Spiber on the development of cosmetic raw materials, repeatedly examined from the perspectives of safety, stability, functionality, comfort, etc., and realized the formulation of mascara while maintaining its characteristics. In December 2021, Spiber registered the INCI name (International Nomenclature of Cosmetic Ingredients), which is the international labeling name for cosmetic ingredients, for blended protein materials such as fiber, so it can be used as a cosmetic raw material. became possible.
