Centric Software proposes PLM for cosmetics industry

Now that traceability is no longer just a trend, consumers are demanding more transparency and they need to prove that the ingredients and materials in their products are ethically sourced. Centric Software proposes PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) for the cosmetics industry to increase visibility of product information and reduce quality, compliance and traceability risks.

Headquartered in Silicon Valley in the United States, Centric Software is accelerating the development of PLM for cosmetics and personal care products in the Japanese market.

The company's PLM is a solution that manages all information related to product creation, optimizes product development, shortens the time to market, and optimizes the product portfolio and product lineup.

Including the history of all kinds of product information scattered throughout the company, such as product planning ideas, various costs related to manufacturing, quality information related to raw materials and formulas, manufacturing schedule progress, various approvals and certifications, sales plan forecasts, etc. can be centrally managed.

In addition, we will realize a significant improvement in productivity by streamlining cross-departmental product information that transcends the boundaries of planning, production, regulatory affairs, quality, and marketing.

Under development by integrating external formulary databases (libraries of ingredient information with characteristics such as INCI names, CAS numbers, functions and restrictions) used for ingredient composition and labeling of cosmetics and personal care products into PLM It is also possible to grasp the ingredients of raw materials contained in new products and manage prescriptions in consideration of regulations that differ from country to country.

The system can also manage audit documents that serve as proof of claims, such as information on the origin of raw materials and certification of manufacturing plants. It is said that traceability can be easily realized because the evidence necessary for product appeal can be properly managed.

With the company's PLM, it is also possible to make proposals and request prototypes through the system with external suppliers (OEM manufacturing plants and container manufacturers). Suppliers can log in to the portal to submit quotations and delivery dates, share a library of products and ingredients with cosmetics companies, and directly register various technical information such as test results and characteristics into the system.

Communication with suppliers regarding requests and instructions regarding prototypes can also be completed within the system, avoiding complicated email exchanges and facilitating version control of prototypes.

In terms of quality control, by establishing an approval process at each milestone control point, it is possible to eliminate manual work of collecting information and repetitive confirmation work that depends on the individual.
