Korea Kolmar and YONWOO promote the commercialization of waste plastic cosmetic containers

Kolmar Korea Co., Ltd. will promote the commercialization of eco-friendly cosmetic containers made from recycled plastic in cooperation with YONWOO, an affiliated company.

Korea Kolmar and Yonwoo signed a three-party agreement (MOU) with Hanwha Solutions on the 24th to commercialize eco-friendly packaging materials for cosmetics at the Korea Institute of Technology located in Seocho-gu, Seoul.

Through this business agreement, the three companies will lead the commercialization of cosmetic containers using the recycled plastic material PCR (Post-Consumer Recycled)-PE (Polyethylene).

Hanwha Solutions will develop a recycled plastic material and supply it to YONWOO, and YONWOO plans to produce cosmetic containers using this material and provide them to all client companies. Korea Kolmar actively proposes recycled plastic containers to client companies, and aims to replace more than 50% of the cosmetic tube containers it produces with environmentally friendly materials by 2030.

The cosmetics container developed by the three companies contains more than 40% PCR-PE material, which is made by crushing discarded plastic and processing it into a recycled raw material, and has a high resource recycling effect.

The company aims to commercialize the product after completing hazardous substance verification tests in and outside Korea and completing GRS (Global Recycled Standard) certification by the end of the year. The material will also be applied to paper tubes, which Korea Kolmar has commercialized for the first time in the world.
