Evaluating High-Intensity Pulsed Light Therapy for Inflammatory Skin Disorders searched relevant publications in the PubMed and Web of Science databases for papers evaluating clinical evidence for the use of IPL in the treatment of various inflammatory skin conditions, 42 We identified and reviewed studies. The inflammatory skin diseases of interest were acne vulgaris, rosacea, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, atopic dermatitis, Riehl's melanosis, lupus erythematosus, cutaneous sarcoidosis, follicles and lichen planus pigmentosa.

As a result, the efficacy of IPL treatment for inflammatory skin diseases was described and evaluated. Evidence suggests that IPL treatment can effectively and safely improve acne vulgaris and rosacea (recommendation grade B). Inflammatory skin diseases not listed above can use IPL treatment as temporary or adjunctive treatment (recommendation grades C and D). Major complications include transient erythema, edema and pain, with possible hyperpigmentation, blistering and, in some people, burning.
