Oral supplementation of rice ceramide improves skin barrier

Ceramides play an important role in maintaining skin barrier function. Studies supporting the beneficial effects of topical ceramides on the restoration of skin barriers have been published, but few studies have been on oral ceramides. In this study, we evaluated the effectiveness of rice ceramide (RC) supplementation to improve skin barrier function through a comprehensive clinical evaluation. We investigated the efficacy of orally administered rice ceramide supplements in 50 volunteer participants.

Skin hydration, firmness and elasticity, transepidermal hydration (TEWL), melanin index (MI), erythema index (EI), sebum production, pH, and wrinkle severity at baseline and during monthly follow-up. Evaluated to. Rice ceramide supplements significantly improved skin hydration, sebum production, firmness and elasticity, and wrinkle severity. In addition, rice ceramide significantly reduced the rate of transepidermal water loss (TEWL), melanin index (MI) and erythema index (EI) levels. Analysis of the data showed that older people were more sensitive to the effects of rice ceramide supplements. The results of this study suggest that rice ceramide supplements can effectively improve skin barrier function, reduce the severity of wrinkles, and reduce pigmentation.
