Fermen Station acquires B Corp certification

Fermen Station, a research and development startup that aims to build a sound-cycle society with fermentation technology, has recently acquired the "B Corporation certification" given to companies that meet high standards in terms of transparency and accountability to the environment and society. In addition to being the first domestic start-up company, it will also be the first in Japan for beauty companies.

The company was founded in 2009. It has a research and development base and its own factory in Oshu City, Iwate Prefecture. Under the purpose of "Fermenting a Renewable Society," we will develop up-cycle ethanol, which is a raw material for cosmetics, by fermenting non-standard agricultural products and food / beverage residues that are normally discarded using our unique technology. In addition, fermented lees produced in the process of fermentation will be used as raw materials for cosmetics and feed for chickens and cattle, and chicken manure will be used as fertilizer for paddy fields and fields to realize a circular economy.
