Shiseido evolves approach to beautiful skin by focusing on minerals

 In collaboration with Professor Akira Ikari of Gifu Pharmaceutical University, Shiseido promoted the production of hyaluronic acid (HA) and spermidine by the action of magnesium ion (Mg ion) on epidermal cells. It was discovered that it has the effect of protecting cells from oxidative damage such as ultraviolet rays.


In the company's previous research, it was found that Mg ions have a barrier recovery effect on the skin, but this time we were able to clarify the moisturizing effect and protective effect together with the mechanism, so we have never focused on Mg ions. I was able to show the possibility of maintenance.

In the future, by clarifying the skin-beautifying effect of Mg ion, which is a kind of mineral that is abundant in our daily lives such as food, we will research with the aim of providing products and services that bring out beauty from inside and outside the skin. I will proceed.
