Currently, in the global foundation market, there is a demand for products that naturally blend in with each person's skin color and enhance the beauty of bare skin. In order to meet this need, it is necessary to analyze various global skin colors and classify them so that they have the optimum number of colors and color arrangements. Until now, classification by appearance has been the mainstream, and the characteristics of a wide range of skin colors. Was difficult to capture accurately.

Therefore, in this research, we focus on the "spectral reflectance" that represents the color pattern that actually comes into our eyes when we see something, and conduct global skin color research that scientifically analyzes the world skin color data. We conducted a preference survey on color tones and established a foundation color system based on the customer's "skin color" and "preference".

The "spectral reflectance" analyzed in the research is the color pattern of the light reflected by hitting an object, and shows different skin color characteristics such as a strong reddish pattern and a strong yellowish pattern.

Therefore, as a result of extracting elements representing 37 items of skin characteristics from the spectral reflectances of about 700 global people with various skin colors and performing statistical analysis on the similarities of each item, the global skin colors are divided into 20 groups. I understand.

This is a grouping based on social characteristics such as nationality and race and skin characteristics that could not be grasped by subjective methods such as appearance skin color, and by utilizing this objective data, each customer It has become possible to design the color of the foundation that is close to the skin characteristics of the skin.

We conducted a palatability survey on foundation color and finish quality for 3000 global foundation users recruited based on our unique skin color grouping method.

At this time, in order to connect the skin color research to the product, a direct interview is conducted while actually using the foundation developed based on the skin color classification of 20 groups, and a survey to verify whether the color and quality match the taste. Was also carried out.

As a result, the color system of the foundation designed this time was able to cover global needs, and we were able to obtain important knowledge about the required quality such as texture and covering power.

Based on this knowledge, we have established a global foundation color system of 40 colors unique to the company by adding user preferences to the skin color classification of 20 groups.


This result is being utilized in the "Cosme Decorte Zenware Fluid" that was released in advance in Japan on April 16, and will be applied to the development of a foundation that supports the global market in the future.
