Confirmed long-term safety of 2 types of hyaluronic acid for nasolabial fold treatment

Follow-up of subjects who received injections of YVOIRE® classic (503) or YVOIRE® volume (503) for treatment of nasolabial fold. The primary assessment was the proportion of subjects who showed complete biodegradation defined as changes in the Wrinkle Severity Assessment Scale (WSRS) and was followed up for 104 weeks after treatment.

As a result, complete biodegradation was observed in 93.5% of the YVOIRE® classic group and 98.5% of the YVOIRE® volume group, most of which were observed within 52 weeks. Treatment-related adverse events occurred within 52 weeks of treatment in 68.2% and 75.0% of YVOIRE® classic and YVOIRE® volume recipients, respectively. Between 12 and 18 months after injection of YVOIRE® volume, 0.6% of subjects showed treatment-related local injection site reactions.

No treatment-related local injection site reaction occurred 12 to 24 months after injection of YVOIRE® classic. It was found that YVOIRE® classic and YVOIRE® volume can be safely used for nasolabial fold treatment and that complete clinical biodegradation tends to occur within 12 months of injection.
