Nikko Chemicals develops O / W type emulsifier with high water resistance

Nikko Chemicals is strengthening the proposal of O / W type emulsifier "NIKKOL Nikkolus 41S" that can realize a sunscreen formulation that has both water resistance and freshness.

The best feature is that despite being an O / W type, it achieves high water resistance. Until now, the O / W type formulation has a problem that it easily flows into water, and even in the sunscreen formulation, it flows immediately when it enters water, and the effect of SPF is not exhibited.

On the other hand, since the O / W is very fresh and comfortable to use, this product uses a gel network structure formed of a surfactant and a higher alcohol in order to achieve both water resistance and freshness. ..

The NIKKOL Nicomurus 41S has the same composition and emulsification characteristics as the NIKKOL Nicomurus 41 that has been sold for many years, but it is a grade that uses raw materials that are newly compatible with Cosmos certification and RSPO certification, and can contribute to sustainable product development. It can also be used in combination with fine particle titanium oxide and fine particle zinc oxide.

"It has many functions, and because of its high water resistance, it is used not only for sunscreens, but also for make-ups such as cream foundations and BB creams. It also has a moisturizing effect for skin care such as milky lotions and creams. It has also been used. There are many inquiries because one product can be used for a wide range of purposes. "

If a large amount of the above-mentioned gel network structure is stably present in water, they are entangled to form a cream. The obtained O / W type emulsion shows good stability in a wide temperature range due to this gel network structure, and forms a hydrophobic film derived from the gel network structure after application, so that it has excellent water resistance and durability. It is said to show a certain moisturizing effect.

Its water resistance and long-lasting moisturizing effect have been demonstrated with NIKKOL Nicomurus 41, which has the same composition and emulsifying properties.

Regarding the water resistance effect, a preparation containing 3% of NIKKOL Nicomurus 41 and a preparation containing 3% of ethylene oxide emulsifier are applied to the skin, left to stand, soaked in water for 40 minutes, and then irradiated with ultraviolet rays. It was confirmed by measuring the SPF.

As a result, immediately after application, both the sunscreen preparation prepared with NIKKOL Nicomurus 41 and the sunscreen preparation prepared with an ethylene oxide emulsifier showed similar SPF values.

On the other hand, after the water resistance test, the sunscreen preparation prepared with NIKKOL Nicomurus 41 had almost no change in the SPF value compared to immediately after application, and the SPF value was about 1.5 times higher than that of the sunscreen preparation prepared with the ethylene oxide emulsifier.
