Shiseido joins international initiative to use 100% renewable energy

Shiseido has joined the international initiative "RE100", which aims to make the electricity used by companies in their business activities 100% renewable energy.

The company has set the goal of realizing "carbon neutral by 2026" toward the transition to a carbon-free society. We believe that the utilization of renewable energy is indispensable for achieving this, and by joining "RE100", we will further accelerate the conversion of electricity used in business activities to renewable energy.

As a response to environmental issues, we have established three strategic actions, "reducing the burden on the global environment," "developing sustainable products," and "promoting sustainable and responsible procurement," and working with various stakeholders throughout the entire value chain to load the environment. We are promoting efforts to reduce the cost and use sustainable resources.

In "Reducing the burden on the global environment," we are thoroughly reviewing the production processes at all factories, improving energy efficiency by introducing high-efficiency equipment, and making efforts to reduce CO2 emissions, such as using renewable energy. In particular, with regard to renewable energy, we are urging the active switch to renewable energy in Japan and overseas, and the installation of solar power generation equipment in the buildings and sites of our own factories and research institutes in Japan and overseas. Domestic factories are also actively using renewable energy derived from hydroelectric power generation.
