POLA Kasei develops technology to make it easier for lotion to penetrate into pores

In research to efficiently infiltrate the lotion into the pores, POLA CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES has "a range of characteristic values related to the ease of spreading of the formulation to the skin, which is optimal for breaking through the entrance of narrow pores" and "makeup". A moisturizing ingredient that makes water more compatible with the sebum component inside the pores "has been elucidated. In addition, by utilizing this knowledge, we succeeded in developing a lotion technology that can be expected to break through the narrow entrance of pores and spread inside the pores rich in sebum.

This technology will be used in Group products and services in the future as a trump card that can deal with pore problems.

According to a survey by the Paula Research Institute of Beauty and Culture, more than one-third of women aged 15 to 74 have problems with pores, and it is thought that technology that efficiently delivers skin care ingredients to the inside of pores will be useful for improving them. , There are few examples of systematic study of pore permeability, and it was still in the process of development.

Most of the plant extracts are water-soluble, and it is easy to mix them with water-based lotion and other preparations. I studied.

One of the reasons why it is thought that the lotion does not easily penetrate into the pores is the "surface tension of water". It is particularly difficult to hold and enter very small openings such as the entrance to pores. In addition, fluidity also affects how the liquid spreads, so in order to break through the entrance of the pores, control of both "surface tension" and "fluidity (viscosity)" related to familiarity and spreadability is required. I thought it was the key.

The second reason is that "the inside of the pores is rich in sebum", and since water does not blend with oil, even if the lotion can break through the entrance of the pores, it cannot be expected to spread to every corner. From this, it was thought that it was necessary to devise a way to make the lotion more compatible with oil in order to diffuse it inside the pores.

In other words, it was necessary to solve these two issues at the same time in order to build a technology for penetrating pores.

In the research, "surface tension" and "thickness" were changed in various ways, and the range of optimum conditions was clarified.

In addition, we have succeeded in constructing a lotion technology that meets the conditions by utilizing naturally derived ingredients that have excellent affinity with the skin, which we have developed in-house.

Furthermore, in order to maintain a comfortable moisturizing feel, we found a component that finely disperses (solubilizes) the water-soluble component in the sebum component from among various moisturizing components used in the lotion.

The knowledge gained from this research will be useful for resolving skin problems related to pores, so we will further promote pharmaceutical research.
