Menopausal symptoms are heavier than Japanese and Chinese women

The study investigated the characteristics of premenopausal, premenopausal, and postmenopausal menopausal symptoms in 329 Chinese women aged 40-59 years (Xi'An urban area) and 310 Japanese women (Ehime). We investigated the correlation between menopausal symptoms and self-efficacy. The menopausal symptoms inventory and a self-efficacy scale were used to evaluate menopausal symptoms.

As a result, the most frequently reported symptoms were fatigue (93.6%) in Japanese females and memory loss (76.6%) in Chinese females. Compared to Chinese women, Japanese women showed significantly higher severity scores in the premenopausal group for sexual function, mental health, interpersonal anxiety, autonomic balance, other subjective symptoms, and all other factors, and menopause. The latter group showed significantly higher severity in mental health, interpersonal anxiety, and autonomic balance. There was a negative correlation between menopausal symptoms and self-efficacy in both Japanese and Chinese women
