Kose obtains RSPO supply chain certification at major factories

Kose has obtained RSPO supply chain certification at its main factories, Gunma Factory / Sayama Factory, Headquarters / Related Bases, as an initiative for sustainable raw material procurement.

Palm oil, which is a vegetable oil collected from oil palm produced mainly in Southeast Asia and used for various purposes such as food in the world, and a part of which is also used as a raw material for cosmetics, is a tropical oil related to plantation development. Environmental issues such as the destruction of rainforests and human rights issues such as labor have been pointed out.

Under these circumstances, the company group joined RSPO in 2019 and participated in JaSPON (Japan Sustainable Palm Oil Network), which is a Japanese network for sustainable palm oil in 2020, and sustainable palm oil. We have been working on the procurement and consumption of palm oil.

In April of the same year, in the "Kose Sustainability Plan," which summarizes the Group's sustainability goals and strategies, we set a goal of 100% "responsible palm oil procurement" by 2030, and we are aiming to achieve it company-wide. We are working.

In addition, in order to further understand human rights issues in the supply chain, the company group will manage and share data for improving working conditions in the global supply chain in October 2021. Participated in "Sedex (Supplier Ethical Data Exchange)".

In the future, we will utilize the platform to strengthen engagement with suppliers and promote the procurement of sustainable raw materials.
