Kao and Lion Start Recycling Demonstration Experiment for Film Containers

Kao and Lion, Welcia Yakkyoku, and Hamakyo Rex, a 3PL company, have been engaged in recycling activities toward the realization of a resource-recycling society for plastic packaging containers, and started a recycling demonstration experiment of used refill packs for daily necessities on October 30.

The refill pack to be collected is only the one that has been used up, washed and dried, regardless of the manufacturer. The main body bottle is out of scope.

Welcia Yakkyoku, a major drugstore in Japan that handles a large number of refill packs for daily necessities, has installed collection boxes at its head office in Tokyo, 20 stores, and 7 stores in Saitama prefecture, for a total of 28 locations to store used refill packs such as detergent and shampoo. to recover.

Hamakyo Rex, which is in charge of logistics, will study an efficient and environmentally friendly logistics process by collecting used refill packs using the return flight of product delivery to each Welcia Yakkyoku store.

In addition, Kao and Lion will recycle the collected refill packs into blocks that can be used in stores and regions to raise awareness among consumers, and will consider technologies for horizontal recycling that will be used again as film containers, and will recycle more. Aim to design a film container that is easy to use.

At multiple Welcia Yakkyoku stores that have strong ties with the local community, we will raise awareness of recycling among consumers, obtain cooperation in collection, and verify the economic efficiency and environmental load of collecting and transporting collected refill packs, which is effective. Build a recovery system.

The recovery model built by this initiative will be considered for further expansion to other regions toward the realization of a plastic resource recycling society.
