Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare devises its own alternative method for animal experiments

Daiichi Sankyo Healthcare has been conducting research on alternative methods for animal experiments to detect weak skin irritation of hypoallergenic skin care products and evaluate their safety, and the results are the results of the 34th Annual Meeting of the Japan Society for Animal Experiment Alternatives. It was announced at (November 11th to 13th, 2021).

While aiming to develop skin care products for sensitive skin and infants that require high safety, the company thought that it was necessary to confirm the weak irritation that would not be a problem for healthy skin.

However, although existing animal experiment alternatives in skin irritation tests can detect relatively strong irritants (GHS categories 1 and 2), it is difficult to detect weak irritants, and hypoallergenic skin care preparations. There were no guidelines set in the safety assessment for the disease.
