ALBION Develops New Cleansing Formula with Melting Skin Feel

 ALBION has succeeded in thickening and stabilizing a cleansing preparation that forms a bi-continuous phase, which has a problem in usability due to its low viscosity while having an excellent make-up removing effect, in a creamy form. As a result, we have created a cleansing product that does not drip when picked up and has a smooth feel that is familiar to the skin and has a high degree of usability and satisfaction.

The results of this research were announced at the International Federation of Cosmetic Engineers (IFSCC) Mexico Convention 2021 under the title of "Development of a new feel cleansing formulation in which the bicontinuous phase is thickened and stabilized with a liquid crystal structure".

In recent years, along with the demand for highly functional makeup products such as waterproof, many formulations using the BC phase with high cleansing power have been developed.

Although a formulation such as a cleansing liquid using the BC phase has high cleansing power and excellent washability, it has a problem in usability such as dripping from the hand due to its low viscosity. On the other hand, although the cream preparation has a high viscosity and is excellent in feel and usability, there are problems such as cleansing power and an oil film remaining on the skin after rinsing.

Therefore, in order to develop a cleansing formulation with higher customer satisfaction, we conducted research with the concept of "realizing a high viscosity that is comfortable to use like a cream formulation while maintaining the high cleansing power of the BC phase". Worked on.

Yuko Shinma of the company's product research group was involved in the development of the new cleansing formulation, and through joint research with the Cosmos Technical Center, Tokyo University of Science, National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology, and the University of Florence, "Bi-Continuous (BC) We succeeded in thickening and stabilizing the "phase" while maintaining a continuous structure in which water and oil are intertwined in three dimensions, and succeeded in developing a cleansing formulation with a new melting feel.

Until now, there have been few preparations that thickened the BC phase due to technical difficulties, but by combining the BC phase and the liquid crystal (LC) structure in the optimum ratio, the BC phase is maintained and the thickening is creamy. I succeeded in making it. In addition, it was clarified that it has a new structure BC / LC by analyzing it by various surface chemistry methods such as a permittivity microscope.

The new cleansing formulation developed this time is said to have high cleansing power and excellent skin feel after washing, while having cream-like ease of use and comfort. By applying the contents of this research, customers This will lead to the development of highly satisfying products.
