Shiseido Develops World's First Highly Accurate "Sag" Evaluation Method

Shiseido has succeeded in developing the world's first quantitative and highly accurate "sag" evaluation method.

In general, "sagging" caused by deformation of facial skin tissue due to gravity is caused by a complex combination of multiple factors such as skin swelling, fat accumulation, facial muscle weakness, and aging of the epidermis and dermis. As a method of evaluating "sag" that greatly contributes to the appearance age, visual judgment using an image has been generally used, but it is influenced by the subjectivity of the judge and evaluated with good reproducibility. There was a problem that it was difficult.

This time, by taking a picture of the shape of the entire face using a 3D camera and converting the "volume change of the face due to gravity" that occurs when the posture is changed by a mathematical technique, "sagging" is accurate and objective. We have developed a "sag index" that can evaluate "".

For verification of the evaluation method, we utilized the test results in which the subject used the prototype containing the material effective for "sag" continuously for 2 weeks by the use step combining the original beauty method.

As a result, the "sag" evaluation using the new "sag" index has made it possible to reliably grasp the "customer's actual feeling of effect", which has been difficult to evaluate with high accuracy.
