L'Oreal Research & Innovation, First New Technology Pitch Event Recruiting Startups and SMEs "Green Science 2021" Held

 L'Oreal Research & Innovation Center (Location: Kawasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, Director: Amit Jayazuwar), the research and development division of L'Oreal Group, the world's largest cosmetics company, is the global commitment of L'Oreal Group "L'Oreal for the Future". We will hold a new technology pitch event "Green Science 2021" for start-up companies to create new value through "Green Science" * 2, one of the important technologies that support innovation in * 1. This event, which will be held for the first time, aims to transform corporate activities and solve social and environmental issues in consideration of planetary boundaries * 3 while developing cutting-edge technologies for future customers. We will provide our partner companies with the necessary resources such as support and funds for industrialization and know-how for developing cosmetic technology. At this event, Mr. Hiroaki Kitano * 4, who has been a leader in AI and system biology research in Japan, will also give a keynote speech.

Purpose and background: Utilization and promotion of technology based on green science

Under the L'Oréal for the Future, a sustainability program, the L'Oréal Group promotes "green science" in product development in order to achieve both innovative product performance and high sustainability. In order to respond to social and environmental issues, L'Oréal wants to actively incorporate external technologies and accelerate the development of green products with lower environmental impact. The purpose of this event is to find key partners for joint product development on a global scale to achieve the goals L'Oréal has set for 2030. Utilizing Japan's advanced technology, we will work with partner companies to solve technical issues that should be strategically addressed.

In addition to the prize money, L'Oréal's R & D department will support joint research and cosmetic applications for the selected companies.

Based on L'Oréal's "Green Science", we will reduce the burden on the environment and utilize the power of nature and living things to develop innovative products such as highly functional ingredients and packages using a recycling economy. I will aim.

 ■ Green Science 2021 Pitch Recruitment Guidelines

● Eligibility for application

 -Companies (startups, small and medium-sized enterprises, etc.) working on solving environmental issues based on advanced technologies in fields such as innovative biotechnology, environment-friendly process technology, and synthesis technology by green chemistry.

 -Pitch in the final examination (scheduled for January 2022) is possible

-There is a POC (Proof of concept, for example, prototype, sample, data) that can be introduced in the final examination.

Examination process

Approximately 10 companies will be selected in the first screening, and in the final screening in January 2022, each company will be asked to perform a 5-minute pitch and a 5-minute Q & A. The best company (1 company) and the best company (2 companies) will be commended by a judge's vote, and joint research with L'Oréal will be conducted.
