Microdrop injectable silicone is effective for acne scars on all skin tones

This time, the safety of a highly purified liquid injectable silicone for the treatment of acne scars in both light and dark skin types (Fitzpatrick skin types IV and V, mean age 50.77 years, 83% women). conducted a retrospective review of efficacy and effectiveness. The study included 96 patients who received a total of 206 treatments with liquid injectable silicone between July 2010 and March 2021.

The results show that highly purified liquid injectable silicone is a safe and effective treatment for acne scars on all skin types. No complications such as granuloma formation, silicone extrusion, hyperpigmentation, hematoma, or infection were observed. The mean follow-up was 6.31 years. The results were considered important because the use of liquid injectable silicones to treat acne scars is considered controversial, especially in dark-skinned patients.
