Fractional CO2 laser is effective for dark circles under the eyes

Results of a randomized clinical trial comparing the efficacy of carboxytherapy versus fractional CO2 laser for dark circles.

The current study compared the effects of carboxytherapy on one side and fractional CO2 laser on the other in patients aged 23 to 52 with bilateral dark circles. Treatment was performed in 4 sessions at 2-week intervals, with subjective and objective assessments at each session.

Results showed that over time after the second treatment session, patient satisfaction was significantly better with fractional CO2 laser than with carboxytherapy. Physicians determined that fractional CO2 laser improved more than carboxytherapy after 2 weeks and 6 weeks. On the other hand, other sessions showed no statistically significant difference. No significant side effects were observed in either group.
